Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract Description
root extract is the extract of the roots of a plant known as Chinese sophora. Also known as ku shen (a name also associated with the related Sophora flavescens plant), it has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine.
root extract, like all plant extracts, has antioxidant benefits; however, the most exciting news is research showing it could be another addition to the arsenal of ingredients that can reduce the appearance of dark spots and discolorations.
Studies have shown that this root extract has the potential to inhibit excess melanin production in a method similar to hydroquinone. More clinical trials are needed to firmly establish this benefit, but its potential makes it an ingredient to watch.
root extract range from 0.04–1%. It’s supplied as a liquid or a powder, both forms being water soluble.
