Punica Granatum Fruit Extract Description
fruit extract, also known as pomegranate fruit extract, has antioxidant properties that, have been conclusively demonstrated on human skin as well as in vitro studies. Topical application of products containing pomegranate may improve the appearance of wrinkled skin by soothing skin and addressing the visible damage caused by environmental stressors.
It’s a rich source of a group of antioxidants known as anthocyanins, which give the fruit its deep red color. These and other antioxidants present in the fruit, seeds, and skin give pomegranate skin-soothing properties.
Typical usage level of pomegranate fruit extract in skin care ranges from 0.1–0.5%, although higher amounts may be used if desired.
When consumed orally via fresh food, juice, or supplement, pomegranate helps the body defend itself against things that can lead to health concerns while minimizing oxidative damage via its nutrient profile, largely driven by potent antioxidant ellagic acid.
